The Civil Engineering Department has organized a workshop for academicians and students to improve their academic and research writing skills in English, to be held on November 3rd,2021 at 10:30 -13:30 in the Conference Hall at Tishk international University Sulaimani (TIUS).
The Research and Thesis Writing Workshop aims to help academicians and students manage the challenge of preparing their research and thesis in English.
The workshop will cover the following:
· Developing their general outline
· Interpreting their research results
· Presenting their conclusions
· Constructing an effective introduction
· Improving their language and style
· Preparing their abstract

Session 1
Description:
At every stage of the development of your thesis, you need the language to articulate your ideas clearly.
The first session of the workshop will focus on communicating the general outline, introduction, and literature review sections of your thesis and on matching your language to its structure. We will pay particular attention to communicating your research and discussing your findings.
Session 2
Description:
The success of your thesis depends on more than just your research. You need to manage your audience’s expectations and make language choices that they feel are appropriate.
The second session of the workshop will focus on explaining different types of referencing styles and citations and crafting an effective abstract of your work. You will also work on matching your language and style to the levels expected of a thesis.
