Civil Engineering Students Gain Hands-On Experience at Alpha Steel Factory

Students from the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University Sulaimani (TIUS) recently participated in an enriching field trip to the Alpha Steel Factory in Kanishaytan, Sulaimani. The February 7th visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to witness steel production processes first-hand, bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world applications.

During the tour, students explored the factory’s various production stages, from the initial melting of raw materials to the final shaping and finishing of steel products. Alpha Steel’s experienced engineers offered insights into the challenges and considerations involved in large-scale structural steel fabrication.

“This experience has reinforced the concepts we learn in the classroom,” commented a second-year student. “Seeing the scale of the machinery and the intricate processes has given me a newfound appreciation for our field.”

The trip was organized as part of the faculty’s commitment to providing students with practical experiences vital for success in the civil engineering industry. “We believe that site visits like this play a crucial role in developing well-rounded engineers,”. “We are grateful to Alpha Steel Factory for their hospitality and willingness to share their expertise with our students.”
