Scientific Trip to Kurd Towers and Park 77 Construction Sites

The Department of Architectural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University-Sulaimani (TIUS) organized an scientific trip for third-year students to the Kurd Towers and Park 77 construction sites on March 6th, 2023. This field trip was designed to augment the students’ understanding of building formation and construction, offering a comprehensive view of the project development lifecycle.

Participants observed the multifaceted stages of construction, from site preparation to the intricate tasks characterizing the project’s completion phase. They gained insights into the construction methodologies, materials employed, and the utilization of specialized tools and machinery. This hands-on experience was complemented by interactive sessions with the construction professionals, enabling students to inquire about the practical aspects of building processes. Such dialogue bridges the gap between theoretical study and practical application, a fundamental aspect of the department’s educational philosophy.

The itinerary also included a visit to ARC Studio, providing a glimpse into the operational dynamics of an architectural firm. Here, students observed the collaborative environment of architects, their engagement with clients, budget management, and the strategic use of design software. Engaging directly with practicing architects, the students gained valuable career advice and a clearer understanding of professional expectations in the field.

This scholarly trip marks a great endeavour by the Architectural Engineering Department to blend academic theory with real-world, hands-on experience. The department is dedicated to equipping students with a holistic understanding of the architectural profession, thereby fostering the necessary skills for their future success in the industry.
