Scientific Trip to Biyara

On October 12th, 2022, the Department of Architectural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University-Sulaimani (TIUS) organized a scientific trip for 5th grade students to Hawraman, Biyara.

In the Urban Design Course, fifth-grade students of the 5th grade will use the main street and bazaar of Biyara as the basis for some of their group projects. Biyara is one of the most significant and valuable towns in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq due to its captivating natural setting, rich history, and numerous priceless architectural masterpieces, including (Xhanaqay Biyara). It is one of the most attractive tourist destinations, with a high volume of visitors each year. Unfortunately, it suffers from several urban and architectural issues, such as high car traffic that makes it difficult for pedestrians to move around and disjointed building facades that have stolen the character and context of the area. The purpose of the trip was to give the students a chance to examine these issues more closely and gain a deeper understanding of them so that, when they redesign the project, they can address them and create a pleasant and functional street.
