AI in Construction: Transforming Engineering with iMode and PARNO
On May 28, 2025, the Department of Interior Design and Civil Engineering at Tishk International University – Sulaimani, in collaboration with international experts, successfully hosted a workshop titled “AI in Construction: Transforming Engineering with iMode and PARNO.” The event explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the construction and architectural industries, from initial design to on-site execution. Participants were introduced to cutting-edge AI platforms like iMode and PARNO, gaining valuable insight into their real-world applications within engineering and construction environments.
A Comprehensive Look at AI’s Role in Construction
Through a series of focused sessions, attendees engaged with the latest innovations in AI-driven design, planning, monitoring, and site management. The workshop was designed to provide practical knowledge on how to implement these technologies for greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability in construction projects.
The workshop’s structure provided a comprehensive overview of AI’s integration into the field:
1. Introduction to AI and Architecture This foundational session covered essential AI concepts and their relevance to architecture. Discussions explored AI’s role in enhancing creativity, efficiency, and decision-making in design. Real-world examples of AI-integrated architectural projects were reviewed, and participants were encouraged to consider the ethical and professional implications of AI adoption.
2. AI-Driven Design and Planning in Construction The second session demonstrated how AI tools, such as generative design and Building Information Modeling (BIM), can enhance early-stage planning. The discussion analyzed AI’s role in improving design accuracy, sustainability, and cost estimation, encouraging critical thinking about integrating these technologies into collaborative workflows.
3. Intelligent Construction Sites: AI in Execution and Monitoring This final session introduced the PARNO and iMode platforms as powerful tools for real-time construction site monitoring. Speakers highlighted AI applications in ensuring safety, tracking project progress, and optimizing resource allocation. The session showcased case studies of intelligent site management using iMode and PARNO, while also addressing the challenges and solutions involved in deploying AI-driven systems on-site.
This international workshop successfully empowered participants with actionable insights into the transformative role of AI in construction and design. It fostered a vital dialogue between academia and industry, encouraging the interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation that will shape the future of engineering practices.
