In celebration of International Nurses Day, the Nursing Department at Tishk International University – Sulaimani organized a special community health outreach event on May 12, 2025. The initiative took place at Majdi Mall in Sulaymaniyah, with active participation from nursing students who provided various health screenings and public awareness activities.

Promoting Community Health

The event served as a vital platform for students to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. Under the guidance of their lecturers, students conducted a range of health checks for the public, including blood pressure, blood sugar level screenings, and provided valuable health education on topics like proper hygiene and disease prevention. The initiative not only highlighted the vital role of nurses in promoting public health but also provided students with a valuable hands-on experience in serving the community.

Hands-On Experience and Community Impact

This initiative showcased the department’s commitment to fostering a new generation of nurses who are not only knowledgeable but also compassionate and community-oriented. By engaging directly with the public, students gained essential communication and practical skills, preparing them for their future roles as healthcare professionals. This event underscored the university’s dedication to making a positive impact on the community and providing a holistic education that extends beyond the classroom.
