Siemens LOGO PLC, Sensors and Motor Control Training
From 1–15 September 2026, the Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University – Sulaymaniyah Campus organized a hands on training course on Siemens LOGO PLC, sensors, and motor control, in collaboration with Hosbuild Building Engineering Services , followed by a practical assignment on photovoltaic panel factory automation.
The training program consisted of eight sessions (24 hours total), with 20% theory and 80% practical work. Students learned Siemens LOGO PLC programming, sensor applications, stepper and DC, AC servo motor control, and system integration.
The program was arranged by Ms. Belan Bapir Bakr, Head of the Computer Engineering Department, who also invited Industrial Electrical Engineer Younis Mohammed to share professional expertise and guide students in applying automation concepts to real world scenarios.
The training was attended by TIU students and outside participants, creating a collaborative learning environment. As part of the final assignment, students designed and simulated PLC control for a photovoltaic panel production line with six interconnected motors. They implemented sequential control, interlocking, timing requirements, and safety logic, demonstrating complete production cycles and emergency stop procedures.
Participants successfully carried out all experiments practically, developed and tested complete automation projects, and gained real world experience in industrial PLC applications. The final photovoltaic panel assignment showcased their ability to design interconnected motor control systems with safety and efficiency. All trainees received a joint academic–industrial certificate, strengthening their professional qualifications.
