International workshop titled The Loss of Sense of Place in Rapid Urban Growth

The Department of Architecture and the Department of Interior Design at Tishk International University – Sulaimani are pleased to invite students, faculty, and practitioners to an international workshop titled The Loss of Sense of Place in Rapid Urban Growth, led by the famous Iraqi artist and architect Maath Alousi.
The workshop will be held on 10 June 2026 from 14:00 to 16:00 as an online webinar, streamed live in the Conference Hall at Tishk International University – Sulaimani. Participants are welcome to join in person at the Conference Hall or attend remotely online.
As cities grow at an accelerating pace, the cultural and spatial qualities that give neighborhoods their identity are increasingly at risk. This session invites participants to critically examine how rapid urban growth affects our sense of place, and to explore design approaches that help preserve spatial and community identity.
