As part of their Interpersonal Dynamics and Character-Building course at Tishk International University – Sulaimani, On 18 June 2026a group of nine first-grade Civil Engineering students successfully executed a impactful community service project aimed at improving local educational infrastructure. Under the guidance of course lecturer Mr. Shallaw Abdullah, the student team—comprising Bayad Baiz, Parsa Soran, Darya Omed, Mustafa Hussein, Ahmad Abdulrahamn, Karo Kamal, Muhamad Omed, Shkar Dler, and Hemo Bakhtyar—collaborated with the school administration to completely repaint the large main hall of Baban School, which had previously suffered from old and faded paint. Recognizing that a clean, vibrant, and attractive school environment is essential for keeping students motivated, comfortable, and proud of their educational spaces, the engineering students took charge of the entire operation. This involved conducting an initial site inspection, determining the required materials and equipment, repairing damaged wall surfaces, and efficiently dividing the labor to execute the painting phase. Throughout the project, the team faced significant hurdles, including managing tight timelines and navigating the sheer scale of the large hall. However, utilizing their foundational engineering mindset, the students overcame these obstacles through robust communication, strategic planning, and effective teamwork. The successful completion of the initiative significantly enhanced the aesthetic appearance of the facility, creating a fresh and welcoming environment for both students and staff. Beyond the physical transformation of the school hall, the project served as a valuable practical exercise for the students, reinforcing their leadership, communication, and project management skills while strengthening their sense of social responsibility and civic engagement.
