True education extends far beyond textbooks and lectures, a principle vividly demonstrated by the first-grade Civil Engineering students (Group B) at Tishk International University Sulaimani on June, 11 2026. As part of their Interpersonal Dynamics and Character-Building course under the guidance of Mr. Shallaw Abdullah, these future engineers transitioned from academic learners into active agents of social welfare by launching a heart-led humanitarian initiative. Recognizing the steep economic disparities that low-income, widowed households face during major festive seasons like Eid, the student cohort set out to deliver critical food security and traditional holiday joy directly to those needing it most. The team kicked off the project by organizing a transparent, peer-to-peer donation campaign across the university. Demonstrating sharp logistical and negotiation skills, they stretched every dinar to secure bulk goods from local wholesale distributors, assembling six identical, high-quality food baskets packed with staples like rice, fresh meat, cooking oil, and festive Eid sweets. The students then managed the entire physical distribution themselves, navigating local routes to deliver the heavy packages straight to the doorsteps of the pre-selected families while strictly preserving their privacy and dignity. This impactful civic initiative, not only provided immediate relief to vulnerable local households but also allowed these engineering students to develop vital lifelong skills in public leadership, project management, and deep civic empathy.
