The Information Technology Department at Tishk International University – Sulaimani was established in the 2022–2023 academic year under the Faculty of Science. It offers  a four year Bachelor of Science program designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in modern information technologies. The curriculum covers key areas such as programming, databases, web technologies, networking, cybersecurity, and data management, enabling students to build strong technical and analytical foundations. 

Through laboratory practice, real-world projects, and teamwork, students develop the problem-solving abilities and digital competencies required in today’s technology-driven industries. Supported by a collaborative learning environment and qualified academic staff, the department emphasizes innovation, professionalism, and ethical responsibility. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in IT management, software development, network administration, cybersecurity, and data analysis, or to pursue advanced studies in related fields.

Mission

The mission of the Information Technology B.Sc. degree program is to prepare students for employment in various IT-related areas and to foster research in the field. This is achieved by educating students on the fundamental knowledge, models, tools, skills, and techniques of Information Technology. 

The mission of the Information Technologies department is to: 

  1. Prepare students to be research and development leaders in computer science and technology. 
  1. Provide quality undergraduate education in both the theoretical and applied foundations of computer science. 
  1. Train students to effectively apply their education to solve real-world problems, amplifying their potential for lifelong high-quality careers and giving them a competitive advantage in the global work environment of the 21st century. 

As part of its mission, the department integrates the latest research findings into courses and actively involves students in research endeavors and projects. The program also provides leadership in applying high technology to enhance the educational experience and deliver computer science expertise to the people of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the nation.

Information technologies permeates all modern endeavors in academia, government and industry, and its role will continue to grow. 

The Department of Information Technologies will be recognized universally as a promoter of the centrality of computing in society. 

As part of it is vision the department will build a strong research and teaching environment that responds swiftly to the challenges of the 21st century.
