This high-impact program was led by <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">Ms. Soma Hadad<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\">, a British-Kurdish architect and academic well-known for her expertise in sustainable and digital design practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"selected\">The workshop successfully brought together TIU students, faculty, and external participants for a hands-on experience in <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">Rhino 3D<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> and <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">Grasshopper<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\">, advancing their skills in digital modelling and sustainability-focused design.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"selected\">Key Objectives of the Training<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"selected\">The objective of the training was to equip both internal and external students and staff with specialized skills in digital and sustainable design. The key goals included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"selected\">Introducing <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">Rhino 3D<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> as a powerful tool for architectural modelling.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"selected\">Building participants&#8217; capabilities in <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">parametric<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> and <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">algorithmic design<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> using Grasshopper.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"selected\">Demonstrating how to design architectural projects in compliance with <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">international standards and regulations<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"selected\">Embedding <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">sustainability principles<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> into the design workflow.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"selected\">Promoting <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">digital innovation<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> for environmentally responsible architecture.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"selected\">Comprehensive Workshop Schedule<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"selected\">Held over four days, each day included two engaging sessions that successfully blended theoretical concepts with hands-on practice, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all attendees.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Day 1 (April 19th):<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Introduction to Rhino 3D:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> Participants were introduced to the software&#8217;s interface and core tools.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Basic 3D Modelling:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> The session focused on fundamental 3D modelling techniques essential for architectural design.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Day 2 (April 20th):<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Parametric Design:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> Concepts of parametric and algorithmic design were explored using Grasshopper.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Hands-On Practice:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> Students created parametric forms and practiced their new skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Day 3 (April 21st):<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Sustainability Integration:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> This day was dedicated to integrating sustainability principles into the design process.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Environmental Analysis:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> Participants used specialized plugins to perform environmental performance analysis on their designs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Day 4 (April 22nd):<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Final Project:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> The training culminated in a final project where students applied their skills to model a sustainable concept.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"selected\">Project Presentations:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> Participants presented their final projects, followed by a group critique session.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"selected\">Participation and Recognition<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"selected\">The workshop successfully attracted a diverse audience. Participation was free of charge for <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">TIU Faculty and Students<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\">, while external participants paid a <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">$100 fee<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\">, which included training materials and licensed software access.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"selected\">Upon completion, all participants were awarded a <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">Certificate of Completion<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\"> from TIU. Additionally, international certificates were provided by the trainer, <\/span><strong><span class=\"selected\">Ms. Soma Hadad<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"selected\">, on behalf of Rhino-certified training programs, for students who demonstrated exceptional progress and creativity throughout the workshop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"selected\">We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Soma Hadad for leading this highly successful training with immense dedication and expertise. Her mentorship inspired participants to explore innovative, sustainability-driven design approaches through digital tools.
