TIU Sulaimani ELT students embarked on a venture to gain practical knowledge in English language teaching. The second-and third-year ELT students, led by Dr. Alpaslan Toker, visited the primary school section of U.S. Colleges at Kani Kurda. Students received a warm welcome from the administrative staff of the school. They had the chance to observe an English class in a session taught by the class teacher, Mr. Mitat Karpuz. ELT students were extremely surprised and mesmerized by the enthusiasm and exceptional motivation of the second-grade primary school students. Their eagerness and zest in participating in class activities left the visiting students spellbound and bewitched as they practically competed with each other to answer the questions put forward by the teacher. ELT students were hosted by the school principal at his office where the students had the chance to ask numerous questions ranging from teacher selection to disciplinary issues experienced at school. The principal showed the kindness to impart wisdom and knowledge from his own experience to these aspiring teachers. It was a highly beneficial and valuable experience in ELT students’ journey to becoming English language professionals.
