As part of its efforts to promote inclusive healthcare and extend dental services to underserved groups within the community, the Faculty of Dentistry carried out a dental outreach program at
Renma Basic Private School in Chamchamal.
The program involved dental students working under the guidance of their academic supervisors to provide oral health assessments for students with disabilities. The examinations were aimed at
detecting dental problems at an early stage, evaluating oral health needs, and identifying cases requiring referral for further dental care.
In addition to the clinical assessments, the visiting team engaged with students, teachers, and caregivers to emphasize the significance of maintaining good oral hygiene and adopting healthy
habits that contribute to long-term oral health. Educational guidance was provided in a manner appropriate to the students’ individual needs and abilities.
The activity represented an important opportunity to support a population that may encounter barriers to accessing routine dental care while fostering a more inclusive approach to oral
healthcare delivery. It also enabled participating students from the Faculty of Dentistry to gain valuable experience in communicating with and caring for individuals with special needs.
Through initiatives such as this, the Faculty of Dentistry continues to strengthen its role in community engagement, preventive healthcare, and the promotion of equal access to oral health
services for all members of society.
