Charity Club: Visiting Low-Income Families

On January 5th, 2023, the Dean of Students and the Charity Club at Tishk International University-Sulaimani (TIUS) visited several low-income families in the Sulaimaniyah Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The team stepped forward with a mission to support those in need during the challenging winter months. Recognizing the heightened difficulties faced by many families, particularly those with sick children or parents, the club has provided essential aid. This assistance includes not only clothing and a budget to alleviate some of their financial burdens but also oil, a crucial commodity for warmth during the cold season.

Many of the families benefiting from this support are coping with severe illnesses such as kidney failure, diabetes, and cancer. The costs associated with medical treatments and necessary medications for these conditions are often prohibitive, leaving them in dire straits. Additionally, some households are composed of orphaned children living with their mothers in rented homes that are in poor condition, adding to their hardships.

Fulfilling our humanitarian duty, the team has endeavoured to offer as much help as possible. The ultimate hope is to bring a measure of comfort and perhaps a smile to the faces of these children, providing them with a semblance of joy and relief in their trying circumstances.
