Workshop on Solar Energy and Cost Reduction

In collaboration with Soran Electronic Power Company, the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, and the Business and Management Department, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Tishk International University-Sulaimani (TIUS), conducted a workshop on solar energy systems on December 20th, 2022.

The workshop commenced with an insightful presentation by Mr. Arya Atta from the Civil Engineering Department, focusing on “Renewable Energy in the Construction Sector and Sustainable Design.” This set the stage for a discourse on how the construction industry can incorporate sustainable practices through the use of renewable energy.

Following Mr. Atta’s presentation, Dr. Hariem Abdullah from the Department of Business and Management elaborated on the “Importance of Corporate Social Responsibility and Solar Energy.” Dr. Abdullah’s seminar delved into the critical role that corporations can play in advancing sustainability and the particular impact of solar energy as a clean power source.

Mr. Soran Hama of the Soran Electronic Company provided the concluding session with a detailed explanation of “The Fundamental Understanding of Solar Power Systems” and their implementation in Kurdistan. His talk gave practical insights into the workings of solar power systems, highlighting their efficiency and benefits.

The goal of the workshop was to explore strategies for reducing costs and promoting environmental stewardship among individuals and businesses. The presentations aimed to underscore the importance of integrating renewable energy, particularly solar power, as a means to achieve economic and ecological sustainability in the region.
