The Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIUS) organized a scientific trip to Sulaimani General Construction Laboratory on May 19th, 2021. The trip was supervised by Mr. Ilham Ibrahim and attended by 4th grade Civil Engineering Department students at TIUS. The purpose of the visitation was to explain the quality control of the asphalt products that are used in roadways in Sulaimani and surrounding areas, and explain the procedures of Marshal Mix Design of hot mix asphalt concrete.
Asphalt section supervisor in SGCL, Engineer Ari Salih, discussed the essentials of good quality asphalt mixes and shared tips to overcome the problems on site. Further to this, Engineer. Chya Mohammed explained the steps of marshal mix design, and provided an opportunity for students to ask questions related to the mix design and quality control at the laboratory.
