The Dean of Students of TIUS arranged a special event on March 10th, 2021, in correspondence to International Women’s Day, in aim to celebrate the significance of this day, and highlight the importance of women in society.

First, Mrs. Shokhan Hama Rashid Ahmed, Director of WOLA Organization, presented a speech entitled “Violence based on gender; causes and effects on society”, which explained the types of violence that women face in society. The speech was followed by a discussion presented by Mrs. Srusht Raouf Amin, who also talked about Women Empowerment and the history of it. In addition, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Toker, Dean of Students and Head of ELT Department, presented a seminar on Interpreting women, in which he discussed understanding women and men’s failure to understand, or misconceptions men have about women. The seminar also discussed gender equality, highlighting the fact that women have the ability and skills to perform any task men can do.

To conclude, Dr. Dogan Ozdemir, Vice President of the University certified the speakers and presented flowers to all female staff, as a form of gratitude to all women in our societies and acknowledgement of their great success and power.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
