On 23rd February 2021, The Faculty of Engineering/ Civil Engineering Department at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a scientific trip to Phoenix Refinery in Arbat: an international factory for bitumen production. The objective of the trip was to present to students the procedure of bitumen production and explain the tests that are conducted as part of the quality control process of the bitumen.
The trip, which was supervised by Mr. Ilham Ibrahim, included a comprehensive demonstration of bitumen production, and the required experiments (such as Flash, Fire Point, Viscosity, Ductility, Softening Point, Penetration, RTHOT and TFOT) of bitumen were also conducted. The trip was attended by fourth-grade students from the Faculty of Engineering/Civil Engineering Department at TIUS.
